The Bolognese is considered a companion dog and is native to northern Italy. The breed is one of the oldest European companion dogs, dating back to the renaissance era. A rare breed in the United States, they are very smart, quick to learn and are easily trained. The Bolognese are happiest when with their family. So they will do best with someone who is home most of the day or work from home situation.
Another interesting fact is there are very few breed specific health disorders. Parents should have proof of a patella exam and CERF (eye) exams as a minimum.
